Jeffries Style Coal Crushing Hammers

A Chicago based company was using Manganese hammers to crush coal to feed a small boiler. Although the hammers were quite large (110 lbs each), the coal it was crushing was quite small and lightweight. The hammers were not performing well, and were wearing out within 6 months of installation – including flipping them over to use the other side. The coal was eroding the hammers tremendously and the customer was not happy with the life they were realizing. Good Earth Tools developed a replacement hammer, made of alloy steel and solid tungsten carbide – a design built on successes in other similar hammer applications. So far, the GET hammers have been in service for over nine months, the grind is still within the customer’s tolerance, and they have not yet been flipped! What a great application!
